Zip ATAPI Interface Channels:
NOTE: Aptiva Intrepid/Defiant Models with Zip ships with the HDD as the MASTER on the PRIMARY channel and the ZIP as SLAVE on the SECONDARY channel. The CD-ROM is a MASTER on the SECONDARY channel.
-The MASTER drive on the PRIMARY must be the boot drive, Drive C.
-If the Zip is to be the PRIMARY boot drive for the computer (Drive C) it must be configured as the MASTER on the PRIMARY channel.
-When configured as a MASTER drive the Zip drive will support either a second Zip ATA or ATAPI drive installed in the SLAVE configuration or an ATA hard drive configured as a SLAVE.
-When configured as a SLAVE drive, ZIP must be daisy-chained to a MASTER drive.
-Cylinders = 512
-Heads = 12
-Sectors per Track = 32

Note that the Emergency Power Eject is located on the back of the drive. The system cover must be removed to access the pin hole.
Testing Requirements and Test Results (as appropriate)
Iomega Zip 100 Quirks:
1. Do not place the system tower on it's side with the BUTTON SIDE UP. It is acceptable to place the minitower system on it's side as long as the Zip Drive has the eject button on the BOTTOM below the slot.
2. Some CD-ROMs may not work properly with the Iomega Zip Drive when the CD-ROM is a SLAVE and the Zip Drive is MASTER. This problem eliminated usage of the MKE 8X CD-ROM. The root cause of this issue is a FIRMWARE BUG in the CD-ROM, not the Iomega Zip Drive.
3. Courageous models with Zip 100 are configured with the Zip drive as SLAVE on the PRIMARY port with the HDD as MASTER. The CD-ROM is MASTER on the SECONDARY port. If the system is reconfigured with Zip and CD-ROM on the same port (ie SECONDARY port) then Auto Power Off will not function and VideoCDs may glitch. The root cause is constant polling of Zip by the Windows95 removable media device driver. Intrepid/Defiant models ship with Zip as a SLAVE on the SECONDARY port and the CD-ROM as MASTER.
