Aptiva - How to determine if Mwave Support is loaded by WIN.INI File

The Mwave DSP modem requires several software programs to be loaded into memory before the card will function properly. On Mxx and Axx series Aptivas, these software programs are loaded from the WIN.INI file, which is processed each time Windows is started. The following procedure describes how to verify that the WIN.INI file is configured properly to load this software.
For Windows 3.x:
1. From the Windows Program Manager, click "File" -> "Run".
2. The "Run" dialog box will open. Type "win.ini" in the dialog box and press "Enter".
3. The Windows notepad will open and display the WIN.INI file. Locate the "run=" line. It should be among the first lines in the file.
4. For Mxx and Axx systems, the line should read as follows: "run=c:\mww\manager\mws.exe c:\mww\modem\mwmwin.exe"
5. If the line reads differently, edit it so that it conforms with the above statement. When you have finished editing the line, close Notepad by clicking "File" -> "Exit".
6. If you have made any changes you will be prompted to save the file, click "Yes" to save the changes. You will need to restart Windows for the new settings to take effect.
For Windows 95:
1. From the Windows desktop, click "Start" -> "Run".
2. The "Run" dialog box will open. Type "win.ini" in the dialog box and press "Enter".
3. The Windows notepad will open and display the WIN.INI file. Locate the "run=" line. It should be among the first lines in the file.
4. For Mxx and Axx systems, the line should read as follows: "run=c:\mww\manager\mws.exe c:\mww\modem\mwmwin.exe"
5. If the line reads differently, edit it so that it conforms with the above statement. When you have finished editing the line, close Notepad by clicking the "X " in the upper righthand corner of the Notepad window.
6. If you have made any changes you will be prompted to save the file, click "Yes" to save the changes. You will need to restart Windows for the new settings to take effect.
