Netfinity ESCON Adapter - Server may hang when mainframe IPLĘs or Resets

Problem:
Netfinity Servers running Windows NT 4.0 are hanging after a Mainframe IPL or RESET, when Netfinity ESCON adapter has connection to that system. This will only happen when a VPPA (Virtual Point-to-Point Adapter) is installed and running. (CD Version 1.0)

Symptoms:
Netfinity Server will freeze.

Solution:
Download Vppa101.exe and Vppa101.txt to resolve the problem. Follow the instructions in Vppa101.txt. Vppa101.exe is self-extracting and Vppa101.txt is the read me text file.

Note: It is recommended this update be applied to all ESCON adapters running VPPA version 1.0. To Verify what Version presently installed, check the Windows NT Event Log as follows:

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Programs
  3. Click Administrative Tools
  4. Click Event Viewer
  5. Look for first BtiVPPA event for V1.x started.
