TP General - Token Ring adapter fails when Dial-Up adapter is configured with the same IP address
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
There are no error messages, but when attempting to use a token-ring adapter or a dial-up adapter when both are setup with the same TCP/IP address, the dial-up adapter works but the token ring card fails . If no IP address is specified for the dial-up adapter then the token ring adapter works fine.
CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad running Windows 95 OSR2 with a token ring adapter and a dial-up adapter both configured to use the same IP address.
RESOLUTION:
A different IP address needs to be setup for the dial-up connection as well as the LAN connection.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
In windows 95 OSR0 (and OSR1), the TCP/IP stack only allows one adapter at a time to be active. Windows 95 OSR2 allows multiple adapters to be active (as long as they use different IPs).
