Applicable to: World-Wide

Before installing this Hard Disk Drive in your ThinkPad System, please make sure that the BIOS Date of your ThinkPad is the SAME AS or LATER THAN the date listed for your ThinkPad model in the 'Fix' section below. Otherwise, a small amount (8KB) of your data could be overwritten and lost under the following circumstances :

* Hibernation is Enabled, and
* There is data present on the last cylinder of the Hard Disk Drive, and
* The ThinkPad actually enters Hibernation mode when you press Fn-F12 or customize the power management options.

Note: The problem does not occur when you create the Hibernation file. It only occurs when the ThinkPad enters Hibernation mode.

ThinkPad Systems Affected:
Any of the following ThinkPad models can experience this problem : 365X/XD

Fix :
To be sure that data is not overwritten when your Thinkpad enters Hibernation mode, update the ThinkPad BIOS with the System Program Service Diskette (included in this shipment) to the following level before installing this Hard Disk Drive:

ThinkPad 365X/XD ==> Version 1.04 (BIOS Date 12/04/96) or later
