Aptiva - How to determine if hard drive is seen in BIOS

1. Power-on computer. When you see the large blue "IBM" on the screen, press the F-1 key. This will take you to the IBM SurePath Setup Utility.
2. At the SurePath Utility screen, press the down-arrow until the cursor is on the "Disk Drive Options". Press the "Enter" key.
3. At the "Disk Drives" option, arrow down to "Hard Disk Drive 1" and press the "Enter" key.
4. If the BIOS is recognizing the hard drive, you should see the size of the drive in megabytes and "Local Bus IDE mode [High Performance]" or similar. If the drive is not recognized you will see "Size - Not Installed."
5. Press "Esc" twice to return to the main menu. If you wish to reload Factory settings, press "F5" key and then, the "Enter" key.
6. Press "Esc" If you have made changes in the settings, you will be given an option to save the changes. Press "Enter" to save and exit the Utility.
