Aptiva - Divide By Zero errors with CPBACKUP

Applicable to: United States

When running CPBACKUP (Central Point Backup), you may encounter an error message with the somewhat cryptic phrase, "integer divide by zero", or similar wording. This error message will usually occur only on Pentium systems, but may occur on 486 systems that run at 100mhz or more.

There are two ways to resolve this problem:

1. Configure CPBACKUP so that it uses the low speed backup for diskettes. To do this, select Configure from the top menu bar of the CPBACKUP window and then select the Backup Speed option from the next menu.

2. Obtain the update program CPBFIXES.EXE from the IBM PC Company BBS and install it on your system. This program is approximately 2 megabytes in size, and it will replace the current copy of CPBACKUP on your system, both for Windows and DOS. You can get to the IBM PC Company BBS from the Internet with the locator:

http://www.pc.ibm.com/files.html

or you can call the BBS with a communications program at 1-919-517-0001.

The fix file is named CPBFIXES.EXE and is in the Files section of the PC Company BBS.
