TP Dock - CD-ROM Drive Adapter for Docking Stations ; Mounting and Door Binding

Applicable to: World-Wide

The CD ROM Drive Adapter 39H3987 has been in service for sometime and there have been some mounting concerns with the 6X CD ROM. Specifically, a screw needs to be removed from the 6X to allow installation in the bracket. This was not originally stipulated in the Publications. This has now been corrected.

A second and perhaps more pervasive problem occurs for some users of both the 4X and 6X, but primarily the 6X drive. Due to very tight tolerances, when mounted in the dockstation with the 39H3987 Drive Adapter kit, the user may encounter trouble opening or closing the CD drive door. This is being fixed and all existing stock of kits are being re-worked, and all future kits will be fixed.

One last problem is that there is confusion on the actual correct FRU numbers. 39H3992 is the correct FRU # This number appears on the part itself.

EC 16144 has come out, this EC covers the re-work of the parts and the specs for all new ones. In the EC the NEW FRU that should be used for replacement of option 39H3987 is 73H8591.

Any orders placed against 39H3992 will be filled with 73H8591.
