TP General - System fails to reboot when performing an unattended installation of Windows NT 4.0

Applicable to: World-Wide

SYMPTOM:
When performing an unattended installation OF Windows NT 4.0, the system fails to reboot during the installation process.

CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad that is having Windows NT 4.0 installed on it.

SOLUTION:
PCMCIA.SYS has a bug in it that prevents it from releasing control of any PCMCIA cards in the system. This inability to release resources prevents NT from correctly closing down and starting the reboot. To resolve the issue, copy PCMCIA.SYS from Service Pack 2 or 3 to the installation share point, OVER the existing PCMCIA.SYS. This new file has the fix in it that will take care of the problem. Service Pack 2 and 3 can be acquired at Microsoft's Web site.
