IBM PC300GL (Type 6267, 6277, 6287) - Hard file timeout error logged in Windows NT Event Viewer

SYMPTOM:
The Windows NT Event Viewer in Administrative Tools logs an error message that the hardfile did not respond within the time out period.
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
This tip applies, but is not limited to IBM PC300GL Series 6267/77/87 systems running Windows NT 4.0 and installed with IDE or SCSI hardfiles equal to or greater than 10GB in capacity.
The Timeout Error condition has been found to be limited to IDE and SCSI hardfiles that operate at speeds of 7200 rpm and faster that may require 10 to 15 seconds to spin up to full operating speed.
FIX:
None is required in Windows NT 4.0. This condition is due to a limitation of the operating system and is due to be corrected in Windows NT 5.0 when available from Microsoft.
The user can delete the hardfile timeout error logs from the Windows NT Event Viewer if desired.
