Aptiva - 2144 Error loading disk driver WDCTLIBM.386
Applicable to: World-Wide
Question:
I start Windows 3.1 on my Aptiva and I receive an error loading disk driver WDCTLIBM.386. How can I correct this?
Answer:
This driver is used by Windows 3.1 to access the hard drive(s). If you receive the above error then it means the file has been
deleted, corrupted, or something else is preventing it from loading. A possibility for the latter is a boot sector virus. After receiving the above error, check to make sure the WDCTLIBM.386 file is on your hard drive. Next, boot from a clean non-infected diskette and run a virus checking program. If no viruses are found, the file may then have been corrupted and will need to be recovered or your virus checker may be out of date.
