CT-618 Small Business Computer Telephony Solution - Technical tip

Overhead Paging Systems:
The requirements for connecting an overhead paging system amplifier to the IBM Computer Telephony solution are as follows:
a. Input - 600ohm telephone input (standard RJ11 connector).
b. Ability to page either by microphone or telephone.

To connect the paging unit to the IBM CT Solution, you will need to use one of the 6 trunk interfaces on the board. Note that you must use a trunk interface and NOT an extension interface. You may also need to make a change to the translation table as shown in the following example:

Anyone who dials extension 299 will be connected to the paging system. The following translation table entry will be required to map extension 299 to trunk 6.
Pattern string: 299
Translation string: L6

If the paging amplifier requires a code, you will need to add it to the translation output string (L6= <code>).

Phone line length:
Supported phone line length from the server to station set is a maximum of 1000 feet. There are no reported problems with significantly longer lengths, but there is no support for this.

Cover groups:
Cover groups security works as follows:
- you can cover the phone for anyone in your work group.
- you can specify whose phone you cover.
