TP 600E/770X - Some DVD movies fail to play

Applicable to: World-Wide

Symptom:
The DVD movies listed below fail to play.

"The Truman Show"
"Tomorrow Never Dies - Special Edition"
"Predator"
"Patriot Games"

Configuration:
ThinkPad 600E and 770X running Windows 95/98.

Solution:
Check that the customer has the Matsushita DVD drive and that the firmware is downlevel by performing the following steps:

1. Click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager -> CDROM -> (Matsushita) DVD ROM -> Settings.
2. Check that this is a Matshita drive and that the Firmware revision is earlier than 075B. If it is, order a replacement DVD drive.

The correct replacement DVD drives are (either drive can be used to replace the existing drive):
600E

1. FRU 05K9068 Matsushita or
2. FRU 05K9106 Toshiba

770X

1. 05K9066 Matsushita or
2. 27L3527 Toshiba
