Network Station - Font changes between NSM R2.5 and NSM R3.0 for 5250 emulator
Applicable to: World-Wide
NSM R2.5, 5250 used 819 ASCII fonts. In R3.0, 5250 changed to use Unicode fonts, as part of NLS enabling of the Network Station. Unfortunately, the R2.5 11X20 font was only available in Latin1 and was not easily available in a Unicode format, so 11X20 is not supported in R3.0 .
The following 5250 font improvements were made:
On a 1024x768 monitor or higher resolution, the 12X23 font was changed to 12X25 for a 24x80 screen size, providing closer to full screen coverage of the 5250 window (also for a 3270 24x80 window).
On a 1024x768 monitor or higher resolution, the 7X15 font was changed to 7X17 for a 27x132 screen size, providing better readability of 27x132 screen data and also closer to full screen coverage of the 5250 window (also for a 3270 27x132 window).
For the 3270 43x80 screen size, the 7x15 font was changed into 9x15, closer to full screen coverage.
For 5250 only, if a 27x132 screen is displayed, the emulator will make the 9X18 font available to the user. If the user selects this font, 112 characters of the 132 are displayed in the 5250 window. The user can scroll left and right a couple of different ways. The emulator remembers the last font that the user selected in the 27x132 screen size.
