Applicable to: World-Wide

P/N

Description
The UUID (Universally Unique IDentifier) is a very unique number assigned to an individual system to identify it and it is required to support PXE (Preboot eXecution Environment) function designed in WfM (Wired for Management) initiative.
The System UUID Update Diskette creates a UUID for your ThinkPad and stores it into the system non-volatile memory.
It requires to update a BIOS which supports UUID/PXE, prior to run this program.

The supported models are as follows.
- ThinkPad 600 (BIOS date 09/22/98 or later is required.)
- ThinkPad 770, 770E, 770ED (BIOS date 09/22/98 or later is required.)

Note: This program should be applied only once. If a UUID is already assigned and recorded in your system, no change will be applied.

Updating System UUID

This diskette is a self-bootable diskette. Insert the diskette into the diskette drive and turn on the computer. After completion, please remove the diskette and turn off the system.

ThinkPad 600, 770, 770E, 770ED BIOS date 09/22/98 or later is required prior to applying this program. BIOS date can be checked at Easy-Setup (BIOS setup) screen.
After updating the BIOS, please make sure a UUID is not already assigned to your system, by checking the EasySetup screen. If the UUID is all zeros (00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000), you can apply this program, otherwise the ID is already set and not neccessary to run this program.
