Crossbrand- Accidential deletion of a Windows 95 file
Applicable to: World-Wide
Symptom:
What happens if a customer accidentally deletes a file that is needed to run Windows 95?
Problem Isolation Aid:
None
Fix:
You can rerun Windows 95 setup in file verification mode to fix problems that may be due to corrupted or missing Windows 95 files. Double-click SETUP.EXE and Setup knows (by looking at setuplog.txt) that you have already installed Windows 95 and asks if you want to verify your copy of Windows 95. Alternatively, you can run the setup.exe program from a command line from the CDROM or diskette 1.
Example :
On a preloaded Windows 95 Aptiva system, you can run SETUP.EXE which is in \windows\options\cabs
Using setuplog.txt, setup checks your files. If it finds one that fails its integrity test, it copies a new files from the source files onto your hard disk.
