Aptiva - 2140/2142 Considerations - Advanced Power Management

System will bypass floppy if wake on alarm and CAD during HDD boot. (Spear Planar)

Detail:
If during a WakeUpOnRing event, you press CTRL-ALT-DEL as the system is booting, it will reboot fine, however, it will NOT look for a floppy to boot from.

Answer / Workaround:
After a WakeUpOnRing event, allow system to SHUTDOWN completely, then turn it back on to boot from floppy.

Power switch not working as expected.

Detail:
When pressing the power switch on the tower or Media Console, it doesn't always perform the action expected. For example, sometimes pressing the button to turn it on, actually seems to turn it off.

Answer / Workaround:
The power button is designed to operate as follows: 1) If the system is OFF and the button is pressed, the system then powers ON., 2) If the system is ON and the button is pressed, the system then powers OFF., 3) If the system is in the SUSPEND state and the button is pressed, the system "Wakes" from Suspend.
