Aptiva-PS/1 - How can I restore my Original or Saved desktop configuration?

If you have a PS/1 or Aptiva which comes with Windows 3.1 pre-installed, you can restore your Windows desktop. There are two reasons you may want to do this:
1. You want the original configuration restored, OR
2. You are receiving messages about an invalid or corrupted group file when Windows is starting.
Please follow the steps below to restore your Original or Saved Windows desktop configuration. This will restore your Windows desktop to the setting it was in when you originally purchased the system. Any icons you have added to the system will be removed if you restore the Original configuration.
1. Start your system as normal.
2. When Windows has started, open the PS/1 Tools or Aptivaware group if it is not already open.
3. Double-click on the PS/1 Fitness or Personal Desktop icon.
4. Double-click on Windows Reset or Personal Desktop.
5. Click once on Original Configuration or Saved Configuration, whichever you want to restore.
6. Select the Restore option.
7. Click once on OK.
8. Click on OK again and Windows will restart. The selected desktop configuration should now be restored!
If for some reason you can no longer find the PS/1 Tools group, there is another way to restore your desktop:
1. Start your system as normal.
2. When the blue PS/1 logo screen appears, press the [F12] key on your keyboard. This will cause your system to skip loading Windows and go directly to the PS/1 Menu or Aptiva Menu screen.
3. When you are at the PS/1 Menu, select option 3 to go to a DOS command prompt.
4. Once you are at a command prompt, type in the following command:
WIN C:\PS1TOOLS\WINRESET.EXE and press [Enter].
