TP 310 - 'Dial-up Networking' Problem at Install
Applicable to: France
Symptom:
French models of the TP310 may exhibit a problem when the customer tries to install 'Dial-up Networking' using add/remove program properties in Windows Setup. The installation may begin and stop at 13% with the following message:
'Install has detected this error: Could not read this installation file (.CAB). Install is trying to go on. Click on OK to continue'.
After clicking on OK, the message appears again.
Problem Isolation Aids:
2600 models: 1FR; 2FR & 3FR
Windows 95 Preload installed (French)
Fix:
The fix involves restoring the CABS files from the Windows 95 CD, as follows:
1. Start Windows 95
2. Insert the French Windows 95 CD (from the shipping group)
3. Go to the DOS prompt (Click Start->Program->MSDOS Prompt)
4. Copy all CABs directory from Windows 95 CD to the French preload on the HDD
(Type C:\COPY D:\WIN95\*.* C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS\*.*)
Other Information:
The preload has been corrected in the manufacturing process.
