Aptiva - 2144/2168 How to restore Mwave drivers on systems with OS/2
Applicable to: World-Wide
Follow this procedure if you encounter a problem with your Mwave sound\modem card and need to reinstall the drivers. This procedure should be used only on Mxx series systems preloaded with DOS/Windows 3.x/OS/2.
Restore Mwave system files by using the following commands from the "C:\>" prompt:
ren config.sys config.ibm
copy \DOS\config.sys
ren autoexec.bat autoexec.ibm
copy \DOS\autoexec.bat
Use the following commands from the "C:\Ps1tools\Winreset>" prompt:
ren \windows\system.ini system.ibm
copy system.i1 \windows\system.ini
ren \windows\win.ini win.ibm
copy win.i1 \windows\win.ini
ren \windows\mwave.ini mwave.ibm
copy Mwave.i1 \windows\mwave.ini
ren \windows\mwmwin.ini mwmwin.ibm
copy mwmwin.i1 \windows\mwmwin.ini
Delete and unzip all Mwave related files by exiting Windows and going to a DOS prompt. At the "C:\>" prompt type:
deltree \mww
deltree \mwd
deltree \mwaveos2
deltree \mwave_c
Insert recovery disk #1 and the Multimedia Exploration CD-ROM and reboot the system. When prompted, insert recovery disk #2 and press "Enter". At the Recovery Menu select option #6 - Go to OS/2 WARP Command Prompt and press "Enter" twice. At the "A:\>" prompt enter the following commands:
d:
cd \recovery
unzip system mww/*.* -d c:\
unzip system mwd/*.* -d c:\
unzip system mwaveos2/*.* -d c:\
unzip system mwave_c/*.* -d c:\
Remove recovery disk #2 and reboot the computer. The Mwave drivers have now been restored.
