56K ISDN International PC Card Modem with GSM Capability - Manually uninstalling the modem

Symptom:

  1. There is no automatic uninstall for the ISDN/56K-GSM PCMCIA modem that cleans up all the files and device drivers; therefore, If it becomes necessary to remove the modem, it must be done manually.
  2. Upon reinstallation of the adapter, an error may occur: "NDISWAN driver must be installed"

Configuration:


Solution:
Manually uninstall the Combo Card:

  1. Go to the device manager, multifunction Adapter.
  2. Double click on Multifunction Adapter and remove the (Combo Card).
  3. Go to the control panel, network,
  4. Remove Microsoft virtual private Networking and Close networking.
  5. Answer yes to reboot the computer.
  6. Go to the control panel, Add/Remove Programs.
  7. Click on Dial-up Networking 1.2,
  8. Click on Add/Remove and answer yes to uninstall Dial-up Networking.
  9. Go to Windows Explorer Windows Inf. and delete: netwarp, nwp10ck, mfismdm, mdm56k.
  10. Go to the 'Other' Directory and delete: IBMMFISDN, or SMTCLIPPERCOM.
  11. Go to the Windows System Directory and delete: Classinst.dll and subsyspnp.sys.
  12. Go to the c:\temp Directory and delete the Netwarp Directory.
  13. Go into the Registry Editor.
  14. Go to HKEY_Local Machine, Emum, Mf. and Delete Child000.
  15. Go to HKEY_Local Machine, System, Current Control Set, services, Multifunction and Delete 0000.
  16. Go to HKEY_Local Machine, System, Current Control Set, services and Delete Pi10Chk.

Reinstall:

  1. Upon reinstall, you may encounter the message:
  2. NDISWAN must be installed before completion of install of the ISDN device.
  3. Leave the error window open.
  4. Place diskette 2 in the A:\ drive and run the executable: dun12zip.
  5. This will install Dial-Up Networking version 1.2 and reboot the machine.
  6. Now the ISDN device continues to install without error.
