Aptiva - 2144/2168 (SL-H) Considerations: When loading MPEG software, Silent Steel disc one or CD-ROM seems defective

Applicable to: World-Wide

Situation:
The user is prompted to put in Silent Steel disc one. After doing so, the system beeps and prompts him or her to insert the same disc. When he or she presses Enter, the same thing happens again. The user is forced to reboot and probably thinks that something is broken.

Reason:
The user pressed Enter before the light stopped blinking. The system will not see the CD after this happens. Since there is no way to abort or restart the install, the user is forced to reboot.

Answer:
The user must reboot the system and reinstall the MPEG software again. Ensure that he or she waits for the light to stop blinking before pressing Enter.
