Aptiva - CPBACKUP reports you have lost clusters and does not allow you to backup
Applicable to: World-Wide
Service Information:
If CPBACKUP does not allow you to perform a backup because it has detected lost clusters on your fixed disk, then the following may be of some use. When files are transferred\deleted on your fixed disk the problem of lost clusters may occur. These lost clusters are the residue from old files. To correct the problem the program CHKDSK (Check Disk) can be used. From a DOS prompt type CHKDSK /F (the parameter /F is for FIX). This program may have to be run several times until no errors occur.
It is also advisable to run DEFRAG as part of a general tidying of the fixed disk. The DEFRAG program defragments your fixed disk, putting the files that are 'split' together again, and also puts separated files closer together, thus leaving your fixed disk more efficient.
