Aptiva - Wallpaper resets to default on 2156 models

The following procedure will correct a situation where the desktop background is continually reset to the default background that shipped with the computer. Please close all programs before beginning this procedure.

Step 1. Launch Windows Explorer:

  1. From the desktop, right click on the Start Button.
  2. Left click on Explore.

Step 2. Show "all files":

  1. Left click on View from the task bar.
  2. Left click on Folder Options.
  3. Left click on the View tab.
  4. Under Hidden Files left click on "Show all files".
  5. Now left click on the OK.

Step 3. Run 'delwall.inf':

  1. On the task bar left click on Tools.
  2. Hold the mouse pointer over Find.
  3. From the menu which appears, left click on Files or Folders...
  4. Under the Named: section type delwall.inf.
  5. Under the Look in: section chose the c drive.
  6. Now left click on Find Now.
  7. The delwall file should appear in the lower box found in the c:\windows\inf directory.
  8. Now right click on the filename and left click on Install.

This will now have resolved the issue.
