Aptiva - Using The Country Command

The COUNTRY command identifies the country support selected and how the following information is displayed or used:

- Date and time format

- Collating sequence

- Capitalization

- Folding format

- Currency symbol

- Decimal separator

However, COUNTRY does not translate the text of DOS messages into the language of the country that you specify.

This command is installed by inserting (or adding) a line to the CONFIG.SYS file. The syntax of the line should be as follows:

COUNTRY=mmm,ccc,filename

mmm = is the three-digit international country code for the telephone system.

If your country is not listed, select the most similar country supported. The international country code for the United States is 001. If no COUNTRY statement is found in the CONFIG.SYS file, the default country code is 001.

ccc = specifies the code page of the desired country information.

This parameter is optional and can be omitted. If it is not specified, the default code page is 437.

filename = specifies the complete name of the file that contains the country dependent information.

For DOS, this parameter will always be COUNTRY.SYS.
