TP 310E/ED,315E/ED - Dial-Up Networking is missing from the Setup options

Applicable to: World-Wide

SYMPTOM:
The Dial-Up Networking (DUN) component from the Communications menu under Add/Remove Software is not listed as an option to install.

CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad 310E/ED, 315E/ED running Windows 95.

SOLUTION:
There are two solutions for this. The first is to reinstall Windows 95. If you got the WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS directory, you can run setup to reinstall Windows 95. This will add the DUN component back to the Add/Remove software list. The second option is that Microsoft has an update to DUN. You can go to the Microsoft Web page and download the latest release. Click here to go to Microsoft's web page.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
We have seen the DUN option disappear from the setup options after some Internet applications were installed on the computer. The applications do not remove
DUN from your computer, but simply removes it from the Add/Remove list for Windows Setup.
