Aptiva - Error writing to LPT1 from Jack Nicklaus Golf game

Service Information:
When playing Jack Nicklaus Golf (Aptiva Windows 95 preload), game will crash occasionally with error message 'There was an error writing to LPT1: The printer is not ready'
Two solutions :
-A- Switch on the printer BEFORE starting the golf game.
or
-B- Better solution :
1. Right click on the installed printer icon (This will be found in Control Panel, Printers) and select Properties
2. Click on Details tab followed by Port Settings button
3. Remove check mark from Spool MS-DOS Print Jobs
