Question:
When the phone rings I pick it up and sometimes hear fax screeching noises. How can I get my Aptiva to take control and answer the fax?
Answer:
If you pick up the phone and hear the fax screeches, there is a way to have the Aptiva receive the fax. You must have Communication Center running BEFORE the call starts.
Look in the Communication Center manual (page 71). "If you answer the phone and hear a fax tone you can transfer control
back to the Operator [Communication Center] by pressing Alt-Tab until you see the Operator. Click on the 'Telephone' icon. In the Telephone window click on the 'Take Fax' button. The 'Take Fax' button will only show up when a fax is actually on the line and will be available for approximately 5 seconds".
