TP General - Remote installation of Tranxit fails

SYMPTOM:
Trying to transfer files between a ThinkPad and another computer. After verifying/setting the serial port on the ThinkPad, the TranXit software was started. During the remote install attempt a message that stated the remote computer was not detected was shown.
CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad using the serial port to do a remote install of the Tranxit software.
SOLUTION:
The two systems were connected and a remote install was performed without error as follows.
1. On both systems disabled the infra red and enabled the serial port on Com1.
2. On the ThinkPad start the TranXit software.
3. Under setup chose connection, under connection serial, com1.
4. Next under options chose remote install.
5. Chose the operating system on the remote system, only Win 3.1 and Win95 provided as options.
6. Chose the operating system on the other computer.
7. Reboot the remote system into MS DOS per remote install instructions
8. Type in the commands provided by remote install on the remote system
MODE COM1:9600,N,8,1,P (ENTER)
CTTY COM1: (ENTER) This left a blinking cursor
9. Chose install on the ThinkPad. Message stating connection could take about a minute.
10. Connection made in about a minute and the remote system was showing the reciept of the files from the ThinkPad.
NOTE: there are different versions of Tranxit between ThinkPads so the installation insructions may be slightly different.
NOTE :
The TranXit Diskette could have been made from Diskette Factory and then loaded to the OEM system. This would have made the fix easier.
