IBM PS/2 - False 11XX error while testing
Applicable to: World-Wide
Symptom:
The PS/2 displays an 11XX error (XX can be any number) when testing the system board serial port with customer or advanced level diagnostics. The user has not experienced any async communication problems.
Problem Isolation Aids:
Check to see if the PS/2 has an OEM internal modem or OEM serial port adapter installed. If it does, remove it and run diagnostics.
Fix:
If the 11XX error remains, it should be treated as valid and normal problem determination must be performed. If the 11XX error is eliminated, it should be considered a false error. The OEM option should be tested with its own diagnostics to determine proper operation.
