Aptiva - Can a SCSI card be added to an Aptiva?
Applicable to: United States
An Adaptec 1542CF was added to a Aptiva 2144-720 to control an external 440M IBM SCSI drive and a NEC 3X CD-ROM with no problems.
Tips to remember:
1. Be sure to disable the floppy controller on the Adaptec card (dip switch.)
2. Set the I/O port address to 334H (dip switch) to keep it from conflicting with the Soundblaster 16 card.
3. When running OS/2, install support for the additional CD-ROM drive using selective install.
NOTE: SCSI devices are not supported under the computer's base warranty. This information is provided 'As Is' with no implied support.
