Servers - OS/2 Warp SMP 4.0 traps or hangs

Symptom
OS/2 Warp SMP 4.0 responds with a Trap 000D, or Trap 000E when accessing the tape drive from the Sytos backup application.

- OR-

The System hangs at the Sytos backup application when accessing the tape drive.

Problem isolation aids
The machine is any model IBM PC Server or IBM Netfinity server that supports and is configured with a IBM 20/40GB 8MM Internal SCSI Tape Drive Option p/n76H0845 (FRU p/n76H0487), OS/2 Warp 4.0 SMP, Seagate Sytos Premium Backup version 2.2.

The supported 8mm ME tape cartridge p/n59H2679 is used.

Resolution
1. Verify that the tape drive has been properly cleaned using the IBM approved cleaning cartridge p/n59H2898.

2. Download the "IBM 20/40GB 8mm Tape Drive (76H0485) Device Driver for OS/2 version 4 SMP" from the IBM Website. It is a self-extracting executable file that creates a diskette. The URL is: http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/files.html
Choose "Search" then type 20/40GB at the Keywords, and click on "Search"

3. Copy the files on the diskette to the SYFILES directory located in the SYPLUS directory on the server.

4. Verify that the symptoms are now corrected when performing a Backup, Verify, and Restore.
