Aptiva - 2158/2163 Considerations - ViaVoice does not respond correctly after a Standby
Applicable to: World-Wide
Description:
ViaVoice will only respond to one command after the system wakes up from Standby.
Models affected:
2158 and 2163
How to duplicate:
To recreate the problem, open ViaVoice and then put the machine in Standby or let it auto-standby. Then wake up the machine. ViaVoice will only respond to one command, and then nothing. It will not say "pardon me", so it acts like you have not said anything, but the colored indicator will move when you say something. Sometimes if you let it sit for a few minutes, it will work one or two times and stop again.
This problem can be reproduced but it does not happen every time. Sometimes, it is possible to come out of the standby and dictate as well as navigate. This problem also occurs on the V72 so it is platform independent. In addition, if the microphone is off when the system goes into standby or the Voice Center is not open, the problem does not occur. The only time there is loss of recognition is when the microphone is on and the machine goes into standby. When disabling the AV, the problem is still encountered as well.
Root cause:
Workaround:
A known workaround to this problem is to turn the microphone off and then on which allows for navigation as usual. This is being added to the Readme. Also, the new level of audio drivers may possibly fix this.
