How to install audio support on a ThinkPad under Windows 95. Applicable to TP365X/XD, 560/E, 760EL/ELD/L/LD/XL and the 765L
Installation Guide:
Note: During its installation, Windows 95 detects the AudioDrive device in some computers and automatically installs its support software. However, this is not the case with the AudioDrive devices in ThinkPad computers. So, you must reinstall the AudioDrive support software. Do the following:
Windows 95 (Release 1):
1. Turn on the computer and start Windows 95.
2. Open My Computer.
3. Open Control Panel and open System to open the System Properties window.
4. Click on the Device Manager tab; then double-click on Sound, video and game controllers from the list.
5. Double-click on ESS AudioDrive.
6. Click on the Driver tab.
7. Click on the Change Driver button.
8. Click on the Have Disk... button.
9. Insert the Audio Features Diskette for Windows 95 into the diskette drive; then type A: and click on OK.
10. Click on OK until you see the following error message: Please insert the disk labeled 'Install Disk 1', and then click OK.
11. Make sure the Audio Features Diskette for Windows 95 is inserted in the diskette drive; then click on OK.
12. Type A: at the Copy Files From window; then click on OK.
13. The Installation begins. After the installation is complete, click on the Close button.
14. You have completed the installation of the AudioDrive Support Software for Windows 95.
Windows 95 (Release 2):
1. Turn on the computer and start Windows 95.
2. Open My Computer.
3. Open Control Panel.
4. Open System.
5. Click on the Device Manager tab.
6. Double-click on Sound, video, and game controller from the list.
7. Double-click on Ess AudioDrive.
8. Click on the Driver tab.
9. Click on the Update Driver... button.
10. Insert the Audio Features Diskette for Windows 95 into the diskette drive.
11. Select Yes to the question "Do you want Windows to Search for the drive?" on the Update Device Driver Wizard panel.
12. Click on the Next>button.
13. Click on the Finish button. Copying File requests one of the Windows 95 installation diskettes or the CD-ROM.
14. Insert the diskette labeled "install Disk1".
15. Click on OK.
16. Change the source for Copying files from: to A:
17. Click on OK. The installation begins.
18. Restart the computer.
19. You have completed the installation of ThinkPad AudioDrive Support Software for Windows 95.
