Aptiva - How to setup video driver for ATI mach64 PCI (macxw4)(DirectDraw)(Microsoft)
Applicable to: World-Wide
Some system problems or user errors can cause corruption in the installed video drivers, or more commonly, replacement of the installed video drivers with another driver set. The following procedure describes how to reinstall the correct video drivers in the event they are damaged or replaced. This information applies to all 2134 and 2176-Cxx systems (except the C21, C31, C32, C54, & C6D) and to all of the 2159-Sxx systems.
1. Click "Start" -> "Settings" -> "Control Panel", and then double-click the "Display" icon. The "Display Properties" window will appear.
2. Click the "Settings" tab, and then click the "Change Display Type" button. The "Adapter Type" box will list the currently installed display driver. Click the "Change" button to select a new adapter type.
3. A "Select Device" box will appear with a list of compatible display drivers. Click the "Show All Devices" radio button at the bottom of the window.
4. A two-pane list of manufacturers and models will appear. In the "Manufacturers" listbox, select "ATI Tech.- Enhanced".
5. A list of ATI display models will be displayed in the right-hand pane. Select "ATI mach64 PCI (macxw4) (DirectDraw) (Microsoft)", and click "OK". Note: In some cases, the driver you select here will be no different from the driver that was listed in the "Change Display Type" window. You should still reselect the driver here as this will copy a NEW set of driver files to the hard drive, correcting any corruption in the existing installation.
6. Click "Close" on the "Change Display Type" screen.
7. Click "OK" in the "Display Properties" window. The driver files will be copied to their correct locations on the hard disk.
8. Once the copy operation is complete, a window will appear stating that you will need to restart the computer before the new settings will take effect. Click "Yes" to restart your system.
