1.6/3.2GB QIC 3080 TR3 Internal Tape Backup Unit - Configuration tip when using TR3 drive on Aptiva and PC Desktop
Applicable to: World-Wide
A successful install was used by using the following configuration process with the TR3 Internal Tape Backup Unit (06H9712).
When configuring the TR3 tape drive in an Aptiva or in the PC Desktops 300 series, use QIC tape drive, and the tape accelerator with these settings:
IRQ 6
DMA 2
I/O Address 3F0.
The customer must change the jumpers on the accelerator card, which can be found in the user's manual on pages 15 and 16. Ensure that the customer has made a note of the default settings for the adapter.
Once the changes have been made for the accelerator card, remove jumpers from the ID0 and ID1 block. Move 2 jumpers over 2 positions (from dma 3 to dma 2). Again, ensure that the customer has made a note of the default settings. The tape drive should now be recognized.
