Aptiva - 2144/2168 (SL-H) Creating Recovery diskettes and FFR for systems with Windows 95

Create Recovery Diskettes:
In the bottom left hand corner of the screen, click on Start.
From the menu that appears, Click on Programs.
From this menu, choose Accessories.
From the Accessories Menu, choose System Tools.
Choose Recovery Diskette.
It will prompt you to insert a blank diskette into drive A: and Press any key to continue.
It will tell you that the diskette is about to be overwritten, press Y to continue and any other key to cancel.
If you cannot access Windows 95:
Reboot the system. When Starting Windows 95 appears in the upper left hand corner, press F8.
Choose Go to a Command Prompt Only. (Do not choose Boot to previous version of MS-DOS.)
From the command prompt type the following:
C: [ENTER]
cd recovery [ENTER]
recovery [ENTER]
It will prompt you to insert a blank diskette into drive A: and Press any key to continue.
It will tell you that the diskette is about to be overwritten, press Y to continue and any other key to cancel.
FDISK:
FDISK will destroy all of your data!
Boot with the recovery diskette and when asked if you wish to Update your Aptiva Software choose N, then:
At the DOS prompt, type FDISK.
Choose Option 3. Delete primary partition or logical drive.
It will warn you that all data will be lost, does he want to continue? Choose Y for Yes.
Choose Option 1. Create primary DOS partition or logical DOS drive.
Choose Option 1 again. Create primary partition.
Hit the [ESC] key twice to exit FDISK. With the diskette in drive a:, press [CTRL]-[ALT]-[DEL] to reboot the system.
FORMAT:
The recovery diskette automatically formats the hard drive.
RECOVERY:
Boot with the Recovery diskette in drive A: and the CD in the CD Rom drive. Answer Y for Yes to the question asked. Then hit [Enter] to continue installing Windows 95. The drive will automatically be formatted and the recovery will take about 45 minutes.
