Aptiva - System Information is wrong
Applicable to: United States
Service Information:
The program HWCHECK, which is normally loaded as part of the boot sequence of Aptiva computers, is responsible for updating the system information tool. Running HWCHECK from a DOS command line might update the System Information Tool. Sometimes, however, System Information may still be reported wrong. Many times, especially after upgrading processors, the software incorrectly identifies your hardware. HWCHECK should be not be REM out or removed from the AUTOEXEC.BAT file since the program does not remain in memory after it has been run, and does not noticeably add to the system boot time.
