Aptiva - DOS modem games in OS/2

Applicable to: United States

Here are some tips on how to use DOS games and Telegame with programs.

Here are the steps to set this up:

1. Format a diskette. ==> FORMAT A: /S
2. Boot your system to DOS/Windows and then EXIT WINDOWS. Select DOS
PROMPT option. Copy c:\config.sys to the formatted diskette.
==> COPY C:\CONFIG.SYS A:
3. Go to the A:> and create an AUTOEXEC.BAT file with the following:
@ECHO OFF
C:
CD\MWD\MANAGER
CALL MWGAMES ON (this gives SB support or you can add the word SAMPLES after the ON for MIDI support.)
CALL MWMODEM 14400
ECHO CHANGE TO YOUR GAME DIRECTORY AND BEGIN PLAYING NOW.
PROMPT (TELEGAMES) $P$G

4. Call this diskette TELEGAMING
5. Now boot to OS/2 and open a DOS SESSION.
6. Create the following file in the root directory C:\ and call it TELEGAME.BAT
@ECHO OFF
ECHO put the TELEGAMING diskette in the A: now or
ECHO just press ENTER to return to OS/2 now.
ECHO When you are done Telegaming you must:
ECHO 1. Take the diskette out of the A:
ECHO 2. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del
ECHO This will return you to OS/2.
PAUSE
CLS

7. Now create an icon and in the PATH and File Name field put C:\TELEGAME.BAT. Go to session page and select
DOS GAMES. Go to GENERAL page and call it START TELEGAMES. You will use this for all your Telegaming apps.

8. That's all there is to it! When you are done playing the game(s) you remove the diskette from drive A: and press C-A-D.
Up pops a message that says "Restoring OS/2" and your desktop will come right up. If you have to power off because
of a lock-up the system still does a "Restoring OS/2".
