Aptiva -- 2137-EG1 or 2137-EG3 System Fails to Boot
Applicable to: China, Hong Kong, Taiwan
SYMPTOM
The system hangs during the Windows 95 boot process. This hang occurs when the real-mode CD-ROM driver, VIDE-CDD.SYS is being processed.
SOLUTION
Specify to the real mode driver the port and interrupt where the CD-ROM drive may be found. The CD-ROM driver line in the config.sys file should be changed from:
DEVICEHIGH=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\VIDE-CDD.SYS /D:IBMCD001
to:
DEVICEHIGH=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\VIDE-CDD.SYS /D:IBMCD001 /p:170,15
EXPLANATION
Adding the extra switch to the driver prevents a system conflict caused by the driver probing for the CD-ROM drive.
