Aptiva - Clearing the Documents list in Windows 95 or 98
Applicable to: World-Wide
Question:
How can I clear the Documents list in Windows 95 or 98? (START/DOCUMENTS)
Answer:
To remove all of the items in the Documents list:
1. Click on the "START" button, select "SETTINGS" and choose "TASKBAR".
2. Click on the "START MENU PROGRAMS" tab.
3. Click on the "CLEAR" button.
4. Click on "OK" and the Documents list will be cleared.
To remove selected items in the Documents list:
1. Start Windows Explorer.
2. Select View, then Options, and then the View tab, and select the option to show hidden files.
3. Open the Windows folder; this folder contains many other folders, including the hidden Recent folder. Open the Recent folder, and you will see the document files. There should be a file for each listing in the Documents folder.
4. Delete the files that you want removed from the Recent folder. This will remove the listings in the Documents folder on the Start Menu. This has no effect on the original files; it ONLY affects the Documents folder.
Note: These files have not been deleted from the hard drive. Rather, they have only been cleared from this quick reference.
