Applicable to: World-Wide
Subject :
Wake UP on LAN with MOUSE disable
Please be aware of the following senario:
If you have a customer that uses the Wake-on-LAN feature on our PC 300 (6577/87) and PC 700 (6877/87), and they are also using power-on and admistrator passwords on the systems that they are waking up, they must ensure that they do the following:
- In the CMOS settings, under the Advanced Power Management section, Automatic Power On, LAN Wake Up, Enable the LAN Wake Up Detect option.
- In the CMOS settings, System Security, Power-on Password, set the Password Prompt to "DUAL".
If you encounter an error message that the mouse port was disabled then you need to disable the "PAUSE ON ERROR" for the operating system.
The mouse and the keyboard were disabled in this dual mode to ensure security protection for the workstation.
In OS/2, put the command "PAUSEONERROR=NO" near the top of the config.sys.
In Windows 95, when you see the "mouse...." error message, enter your password to enable the keyboard. Then use the keyboard to put a "checkmark" in the box that says "do not display this message in the future".
