PC Server 325 / 330 - ECA 10: Processor Jumper Card J9
Applicable to: World-Wide
Subject :
ECA010: PC Server 325/330 Processor Card Jumper J9
Purpose :
This ECA provides for the repositioning of Jumper J9 (I/O Queue Depth) on the Pentium Pro processor card FRU p/n75H7419. The correct placement of the jumper can prevent traps, hangs, and bus timeout errors during heavy CPU and I/O activity. This symptom has been observed during heavy stress tests in a dual Pentium Pro processor environment.
Faxback Document # 11115 has the same procedure and diagram and may be faxed to customers. The Faxback phone # is 800-426-3395.
This ECA will expire February 28, 2003.

Physical Check :
- A DOS diskette utility named "4227122.EXE PC Server 325/330 IOQD Utility" will check the position of Jumper J9.
- Systems manufactured after May 1, 1997 (MFG DATE: 705 and later on the rear serial number label) are NOT affected.
Detail :
Use the following procedure:
1. Download and expand 4227122.EXE (IOQD Utility)
To obtain a copy of this Diskette, DoubleClick here : -
2. Shutdown the operating system and boot the IOQD Diskette.
3. The IOQD Utility will check the current position of Jumper J9 on the processor card.
4. If the J9 jumper is set correctly on pins 1-2, the Utility will inform the operator that it is set correctly; proceed to step 6.
5. If the J9 jumper is missing or is on pins 2-3, the Utility will beep and inform the operator to move the jumper to pins 1-2. A diagram will be displayed showing the correct position of the J9 Jumper. Power off the Server, and move the J9 jumper to pins 1-2. Jumper J9 is located behind PCIset module U4. Refer to the diagram below.
Note: It is usually possible to move the J9 jumper without removing the processor card or any adapters.
Do NOT change the position of Jumpers J10 and J12.
6. Remove the IOQD Utility Diskette and reboot the Server.
