TP 350 - BIOS Update Procedure

Applicable to: World-Wide

Service Information:
Any time a system board is replaced it is essential to also update the specific country BIOS for the system.

To ensure that you obtain the correct BIOS for the system you are working on you must use the latest level of the ThinkPad 350 BIOS Update Diskette.

While updating the BIOS you will be asked to press the write protect button which is located on the I/O Card at the back
of the system unit. There are two different types of write protect buttons used on the ThinkPad 350, the update procedure
depends on the type of I/O Card installed in the machine.

Type 1. Use a paper clip to press the write protect button and push straight in until you feel the write protect button move then press any key.

Type 2. The actual button has been removed from the I/O Card and the paper clip should be pushed straight into the hole to
make contact with the circuit board and while still touching the circuit board move the paper clip so that it touches the side of the hole and then press any key.

Once either of these procedures has been carried out correctly the program should say 100% complete.

To confirm that the new BIOS level has been installed correctly view the revision level in the Configuration Utility.
