TP 770 - No DVD Region Code preinstalled on UK preload
Applicable to: AP-N, AP-S, EMEA
SYMPTOM:
When attempting to play a DVD movie, the following error message will be displayed:
"IBM MPEG Driver WARNING: This is a non-functional DLL Please contact your distributor for the proper DVD playback option", followed by "The region code does not match the version of the system"
CONFIGURATION:
There have been a number of ThinkPad 770's (9549-5A0) shipped without DVD Region Code (Region 2) preinstalled. This is applicable to UK preload only.
SOLUTION:
To fix this, simply create the Region Code 2 diskette from Diskette Factory, or from the Configurator CD.
Systems shipped after 1 August 1998 are not AFFECTED.
