Network Station - 9516/9514 Flat Panel Displays in low resolution mode
Applicable to: World-Wide
This document addresses the low resolution issue seen on the 9516/9514 Flat Panel Displays connected to Network Station. Upon booting the Network Station, the logic unit begins a handshake with the monitor. This handshake occurs before any configuration files are loaded. It is during this handshake that the monitor resolution is set.
SYMPTOM:
Because the 9516/9514 displays are so intelligent, manually setting the monitor to a lower resolution has no effect, as soon as the Network Station is powered-up, it resets the monitor to its highest resolution.
SOLUTION:
IBM sells a dongle cable (adapter) which disables DDC. It is IBM P/N 96g2693.
CONFIGURATION:
The dongle cable (adapter) works with the Network Station connected to a 9516/9514 LCD Display, which results in low resolution (with the full gamut of resolution options available via the Setup Panel).
