IBM PC330/PC350 - Auto 16 Token Ring problems
Applicable to: World-Wide
Symptom:
Using LANAID 1.4 to configure Auto-16 Token Ring Adapter for PNP locked settings appears to work OK , but after saving config, switching off then on, and checking settings with LANAID /VIEW , this reports an invalid configuration.
Problem Isolation Aids:
There are two separate possible causes:
1. IRQ 3 is by default allocated to COM2 but this is not reflected in ISA Legacy resources. If LANAID(C) is run and the Token Ring adapter locked to PNP at IRQ3 it will fail to initialize.
2. IRQ11 is marked as available and may be allocated by LANAID(C) but it is not subsequently allocated by PNP POST.
Fix:
1. IRQ3 must be manually marked as "not available" in Legacy Resources if COM2 is enabled. The same applies to IRQ4 (COM1).
2. The problem of allocating IRQ11 is fixed in Flash BIOS 38 or later.
