PS/1-Aptiva - How to avoid printing page numbers on the first several pages in the Microsoft Works word processor

When typing a term paper or report, there is a way to prevent page numbers from appearing on the Title page, the Table of Contents, and the Introduction Page. The following procedure shows how to start the page numbering after the beginning pages of a document.
Page numbers are controlled with the Print Headers and Footers command. If your document is already set up to print with page numbers on all pages, turn off the header or footer. To do this, remove the page number data from the appropriate field. Next, print the beginning, unnumbered pages.
Follow these steps:
1. Determine how many pages you want to print without page numbers. (For our example, we will print 5 pages without numbers.)
2. Choose Print from the menu bar and select Print.
3. You will notice the option Print Specific Pages. Activate this option by tabbing to it and pressing the Spacebar or by clicking your mouse on this option. After the "X" appears, the Pages: box can be accessed.
4. Enter the pages to be printed. (These are the beginning pages and will not include page numbers.) Press [F1] if you need assistance with how to enter the numbers. In our example, we type 1:5 which will print pages 1 through 5.
5. Press [Enter] or select "OK" to print.
Next, print the remainder of the pages and have the page numbers start with "1" ( in our example, page 6 must print with page number "1". Follow these steps:
1. Select Print, Headers & Footers, replace your page number information as desired, and press [Enter] or select <OK>.
2. Choose Print, Page Setup, and Margins.
3. Notice the option "1st Page Number." In our example, you will enter a negative four ( -4 ). This will start the page count at -4, thus allowing the number "1" to be printed on page 6. Press [Enter].
4. Choose Print, Print and enter the pages to be printed WITH page numbers, for example 6:15. Press [Enter].
