Aptiva - Problems with Internet Phone and Aptiva Mxx systems

If you should have difficulty using Internet Phone you must disable modem data compression.
This is how you turn off V42 compression with an Mwave modem and Windows 95:
Open My Computer
Dial-up Networking, then cancel
Right click on IBM Global Network, then select properties
Click on Configure button
Select Connection tab
Click on Advanced button
Uncheck the "Compress data" box
In a Windows 3.11 computer, use AT... "H0,NULL" in the INIT string for your dialer.
This will not degrade reliability when surfing the net... the user will only notice a change if they are an Internet server or sending data to other users real-time (which does NOT include email).
