PC Server 325 / 330 - Unrecognized models in ServerGuide 3.01 and NetFinity 4.0
Applicable to: World-Wide
Problem:
ServerGuide 3.01 and Netfinity 4.0 do not recognize all PC Server 325 and 330 models.
NetFinity will run on all models, but will display the generic desktop icon.
The models that are currently impacted are:
8639-EJ0
8639-RS0
8639-EM0 (Special Bid only)
8640-EM2
8640-SMS (Special Bid Only & being re-released as 8640-EMR)
All reconditioned and Japanese models of the 325 and 330
The following models are not affected:
PC Server 310, 320, 520, 704, 720 - all models
PC Server 325 - 8639-ES0, 8639-ESV
PC Server 330 - 8640-ES0, 8640-ES2, 8640-ESS
Resolution
1. A ServerGuide and Netfinity update diskette is available . The patch diskette will:
- Modify the VPD of the system to allow ServerGuide to function.
- Provide the patches required for NetFinity to recognize the system.
- Switch the system setup back to the as-shipped configuration.
2. A new manufacturing refresh of ServerGuide (3.011) will be available soon that will remove the need for the patch diskette.
ServerGuide 3.011 will ship with all new production of the affected boxes.
A further note will be sent out when the fixes are available.
